haven’t really had internet lately so here are some entries from a couple days back
august 1, 2011
It’s the morning of my first day of class, and another night of restless sleep. I thought rabanne’s place was kinda “roughin it” but Neha’s sister’s place is....even worse. Neha is this girl I met after I saw this flier she posted in the cafeteria looking for a roommate. Actually they don’t call it a cafeteria, it’s called a “canteen”. I find myself getting stupid looks from her when asking questions like “Is there a laudromat around here” or is there like a place near school I can get coffee or breakfast?”....And she looks at me like “....silly american girl, you’re in India now” I feel like I’m losing some weight because I don’t eat every much here. I just don’t even know how to go get food on my own without Rabanne. I don’t know what’s safe to eat or not. Plus no one speaks english, or if they do, I can still barely understand it. People hear make everything so difficult. Me and Rabanne wasted a day thanks to the phone store because they said they could make my Iphone work there but it seemed like no one fucking knew what they were doing and I wanted to punch everyone in the face. So I just got a sim card and went out and got the cheapest phone I can find. Whatever. I just hope the apartment I’m getting is decent and liveable. I saw pictures and it looked hella dirty and narly, but Neha said she told them she would only move in if they cleaned everything...
I’m so hungries right nowzzzz!
august 2, 2011 thank you steve jobs
Last night i was ready to pack my things and go home. Or drop out of school and just chill at rabanne’s for a month and go to thailand then paris. I was crying to my closest friends, and literally crying and just feeling so homesick and miserable. My first week here hasn’t been the easiest. I feel like everyone here has to make everything 10 times more difficult and slower than it should be. Last night I just had enough and wanted out even though I hate giving up.
Ironically, today in my first class, the teacher put on steve job’s speech at standford’s graduation. I swear steve jobs is the reason why I am still here. In his speech he talked about how he dropped out of college and had a lot of rough times and it feels like it’s never gonna get better and everything makes sense when you look back. Its hard to quote his exact speech but it really did inspire me and I’m going to force myself to stick it through. I finally gave up apartment hunting and settled for a dorm across the street from school. I made friends with the only 2 other foreign exchange girls from netherland and they told me there was an extra bed in a room in their apartment. Im now sharing a room with someone I haven’t met yet but you can’t have everything. There are also rediculous rules here too, but as long as everyone else has to suffer and can deal with it, i’ll manage too. 5 months. just 5 months. then i get to see michelle in paris and everything will be just fine.
